Information on the toll road from the "Toll Road Warriors" has been scarce of late. The bill in question in this session of the State Legislature HB08-1007 passed both the Senate & the House & is, I believe, headed to the Governor for approval. Rob Dougherty, Pueblo, a leader against the toll road, on 5/5/08 posted the following on his blog/site http://frontrangetollroad.blogspot.com:
"There is really very little difference
in the status of the existing corridors before & after
this bill if it passes. Here are the differences as
applied to the Super Slab.
Currently: Front Range Toll Road Company
has the exclusive right to develop the toll road subject
to all of the required approvals.
If HB(08)-1007 passes: Front Range Toll
Road Company has the exclusive right to seek all of the
required approvals & if successful has the exclusive
right to develop the toll road. It's hard to believe
that this slight difference will give much relief to the
depressed real estate prices. Only time will tell."
State Senator Suzanne Williams,
Senate District 28, representing part of House District
40, State Representative Debbie Stafford,
HD 40, & State Senator Greg Brophy,
Senate District 1 (R), whose area of representation
includes Elbert County, voted for the bill. JF

"There have been 3 crashes/incidents
since July 2006," emails Michelle Willstatter, who took
the two photos at right above. "A crash occurred in
Douglas County in July of 2006 approximately 100 yards
off the Rocky Mountain Airpark, narrowly missing a
house. The next crash occurred August 20th 2007. The
most recent incident involved a plane flying through and
cutting the power lines at the east end of the runway.
The end of the runway is not more than 100 feet from
Delbert Road, (above) one of the more heavily trafficked
roads in Elbert County. A concerned neighbor took the photo of the
wrecked plane.
